Tips for Surviving a Sample Sale -- And Finding Your Dress While You're There!

Share

With their 7th Annual Sample Sale coming up September 11-20, our friends at The Dress by Nicole wanted to offer some tips and tricks for making the most of a sample sale appointment.

GUEST POST BY THE DRESS BY NICOLE

Navigating a sample sale can be tricky business and it isn't always for the faint of heart. But, if you're up for the challenge, we have scores of brides who have gotten their dream gown for a serious discount at one of our sample sales.

In order to help you figure out if you could be one of them, here's a couple of things to consider:
  1. Are you able to make a decision quickly or do you need lots of opinions and/or mom's approval before making your final choice?
  2. Are you a street size 6-12 and average height?
  3. Is there one particular dress that you absolutely have to try on or have?
There are no wrong answers here, but sample sales can be a bit hectic (there are lots of fashionistas on a budget) and so we cannot hold a gown. This means that when you find your dress, you have to be ready to make that split second decision.

And please know, we're pretty aggressive with our pricing. We know it's tough enough to make that decision and so we take into account the condition of the dress, any wear and tear, and mark it down accordingly, sometime as much as 80% off the original price! This way you can spend more time shopping and less time haggling.

Tips for Shopping a Sample Sale:
  • Be forewarned that sample sales can be overwhelming and are not the typical first bridal experience we normally provide.
  • We do not decide which samples will go on sale until the morning of the sale, therefore you will not be able to pre-shop the sale.
  • If you have never tried on dresses before, this may not be the sale for you. We suggest shopping at least one other store before coming to visit us. If you see something that you love, you have to be ready to commit because it could be gone in the next appointment. No holds.
  • Generally, sample sizes are bridal size 8s, 10s, 12s, with a few 14s and 16s (these translate to 6s to 12s in traditional sizing).

Happy Shopping!
