Matt and I first met standing up in our best man’s wedding in 2009. We fell in love over the course of almost six years. The courtship started with sweet gestures, like Matt using his Mustang to drive hearts into the snow of my driveway on a blistery winters night to escaping down to the beaches of Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
Matt proposed to me in Millennium park on a chilly February evening where a photographer was strategically waiting to capture all the candid moments we shared as a newly-engaged couple.
On a sunny August afternoon, Matt and I became husband and wife surrounded by our closest loved ones. Prior to our first look, we both felt overwhelmed with excitement and a tinge of nervousness. However, that anxiety disappeared the moment we held each other during our first look. We knew the memories we were about to make would be nothing short of incredible.
The aisle was lined with golden chiavari chairs, and glowing candlelight filled the room. The ceremony held extraordinary meaning for the two of us, because unbeknownst to our guests, my brother officiated the ceremony in a surprising change from groomsman to officiant mid-ceremony.
The celebration included décor like soft ivory blooms in our bouquets and centerpieces to cheeky napkins on the cocktail rounds that revealed fun facts about our relationship. Purple hues from the uplighting draped across our ballroom with just the right amount of sparkle from our table cloths and custom chandelier that hung over our altar. The entire day was pure magic.
