"We originally met on New Year's Eve at a house party. I was on a date with a different guy and Rory showed up with a friend. After my date left to play host, we spent hours that night in the kitchen talking about Netflix shows and laughing non-stop. We exchanged numbers, but it only led to a failed attempt at scheduling a first date. A month passed and on a random Saturday we found ourselves in a Crossfit gym, being forced to workout on the same team and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
"In June 2015, Rory planned a picnic at the park in Palmer Square with our dog Roxie. As I grabbed Roxie’s treat bag to work on some new tricks, the only thing inside the bag of treats was a blue Tiffany box!
"Our New Year's Eve wedding theme could be summed up in one word: FUN! With so many out-of-town guests, we wanted a venue that could accommodate an evening ceremony and cocktail party style reception in one place and limit travel on such a busy holiday. With only five months to plan, Gibsons Restaurant in the Gold Coast worked with us every step of the way and made sure our night was awesome!
"Our written vows were personalized and brought a few laughs to a casual-yet-intimate ceremony. It truly reflected our personalities and helped set the tone for a fun night ahead. The passed hors d'oeuvres (Gibsons' filet mignon sliders are the best!) and champagne cupcakes made for a great time, keeping the large dance floor packed well past the midnight kiss. We kept the decor simple (to allow for an easier and faster room change from ceremony to reception) incorporating a lot of tea candles, floral centerpieces, gold and metal table accents and NYE party favors for guests.
"To avoid missing too much of the party, we did a first look and took photos before the wedding with our siblings, then my father drove the two of us and the photographer around downtown to catch some photos in the park. Taking those walks and photos together was one of the most intimate moments of the night!"-- Cherish
